To emphasize the vertical power of the room, a glowing arched vault was constructed across the entire interior. The centrality and symmetry of the vault further reinforce its Romanesque character. To balance the grandeur of the ceiling, the vault is composed of paper-thin lamellas, making the structure feel light and airy.
The lower part of the room is clearly divided into two zones: a central dark seating area and a surrounding light zone. The central area’s symmetry accentuates the proportions of the space and provides a deliberate overview of the entire hall. Along the sides, the vaulted ceiling transitions smoothly into seating areas with tall backrests, creating a more intimate atmosphere.
The space is designed to reflect the essence of Tokumaru’s cuisine – clear-cut yet light. The airy ceiling design, together with the lighting, unites the different Tokumaru restaurants into a cohesive whole.
