The building is considered Estonia’s first modernist high-rise building that was built in 1968 under the Soviet rule as the “White House” of the Estonian Communist Party Central Committee (architects Mart Port, Uno Tölpus, Olga Konchayeva, Raine Karp, engineer E. Uustalu). Today, the building is under cultural heritage protection and is considered an outstanding example of the 1960’s architecture.
Under the theme “Recycling Socialism”, the curators decided to install the exhibition in the hall which was not in use for over 20 years. The task was to bring people up to the second floor from the street level and to advertise the whole TAB event to the public.
The stairs were made of 50x150mm regular wood stud. Total length used was 2.4 km that was sponsored by the local timber producer. The installation was open to public: 06-29 September.
