© HGAThe invited competition called for a vision for a 322,000 m² site between the Soviet-era Õismäe district and the suburban housing estates of the 2000s, where mature greenery, farmsteads, and natural habitats have been preserved. The concept envisions the city as an archipelago – building “islands” floating in greenery, enriched by ponds and rain gardens formed from existing ditches.
Northern blocks create a clear edge to the green corridor, while in the south the landscape weaves between the houses, visually expanding the greenery. The main public space is defined by this green corridor, complemented by playgrounds, sports areas, a skate park, and the open courtyard of the business quarter. The density of the blocks also shapes more intimate courtyards, offering residents a diverse and human-scaled living environment.
