The existing house stands inside of the courtyard among wooden residential houses in the area protected as the “valuable milieu”, in the outer ring of the central city of Tallinn. The existing stone structure, once served as a lemonade factory, was originally built at the beginning of 1950, stood empty for a while. The small stone house is renovated and extended for a musician to live and work.

The proposal is to maximize the allowed addition up to 1/3 of the original volume. The size and location of windows were chosen to retain privacy from the immediate neighbors. We decided not to differentiate the new from the old, aiming to insert a compact but complete piece of the house to the rather fragmented context. The exterior wall is to be rendered roughly in light grey as respect to the existing building.
